Well, I believe that you can make your blog anything and write anything on your blog after get reasonable number of visitors to your site.

So, if you got a personal blog, enough visitors on your blog. You can make money and no one should mind it.

I believe, if you are putting your effort and time to something, it’s not bad to get something out of it.

Demerits of personal blog

If you have got a personal blog, keep online ting in mind, the chances to sell something to your readers are very less. You can’t directly make money from your readers. This is because these personal blogs are written in an informal way and tend to give some kind of entertainment value to the reader. This is the reason people visit personal blog. They are not there to gain something or buy something.

Non profit making personal blogs

There are also blog that don’t make money. Few are not aware of it and few don’t want to make money from it. Most of them are personal blogs.
