Do you know what Favicon is?

well, even I don’t know. I mean I don’t know how to define it and I am too lazy to search for it’s definition. But, I know the uses of it and how to create it.

This 86, written before my sit’s name is Favicon.

It’s ok not to have a favicon for you site, I mean, sky will not fall on you or your site won’t get banned in Google. But it’s give a professional look to your blog. Now I think this is one great reason to have a favicon for you site.

Let me tell you how to me it.

Go to this site and upload the image of which you want to favicon. 

Just like I created my site’s favicon, you can make yours. then upload it to your server by your favorite ftp client. ( I use FileZilla and it’s free).

Upload it in the root, so that it should show when you type www.sitename.com/favicon.ico

Put the above code in the header.php file, which you will find in the edit themes area under Appearance tab in your admin area of WordPress.

thats it, check your site in the browser, refresh it few times, or use another browser, because it sometimes takes the files stored in the temp folder in your computer.
