Every webmaster knows how essential it is to create an SEO campaign for their website. How many of them are willing to put even a fraction of the effort into their SEO campaign for their Facebook fan page? Probably less than 10%.

Why Use SEO for Your Facebook Page?

It’s hard to understand why many webmasters won’t put in a little effort to create a more popular Facebook page. Think about how much more exposure a Facebook page can get. Facebook will rank much higher in the search engines than your web site ever will.

You created your fan page to draw more fans. Why not make sure possible fans will actually find it?

Tips for Using SEO to Draw Facebook Fans

Facebook will rank higher than your site and you can definitely use more competitive keywords. However, you need to think about your SEO strategy first. Here are some tips to draw traffic to your fan page:

Optimize for both Google and Facebook searches. Visitors will use both search engines to find your group. Make sure you are somewhat familiar with how they both work. Most likely, you will be drawing fans from Facebook’s own search engine. Nevertheless, you need Google too.

Get a vanity url. Making sure that your keywords turn up in the url is just as important with Facebook as a website. This can be a major SERP boost.

Make your fan page public. Change the settings on your page so everyone on Facebook can find it. There is no point being selective about who can find your page.

Think SEO in all content on your fan page. Search engines crawl the entire page for information. Hopefully, you know that already when you build your own website. Think about SEO in your wall posts, descriptions, status updates and everything else you possibly can.

Optimize titles for content you want to find. You need to make sure your keywords are in the titles of your wall posts. Your wall posts will draw traffic for additional keywords and visitors can click directly on your content.

Use a static FBML app. These applications will allow you to create new sections in your page for keyword laden content.

Add videos. Embedding YouTube videos into your site can help your rankings considerably. Find popular videos with your keywords and have them streamed in.

Be persistent. It always takes time to optimize any webpage. Your fan page is no different. Update it regularly.

Take the time to work on your SEO campaign for your Facebook page. It is essential that you draw Facebook fans. Why not use SEO to draw the most relevant users?

Blogging has changed the way information is exchanged. It has made the world more democratic where every voice, however small, can be heard and that too resoundingly. The old world order meant that only the rich and influential could occupy the stage and vent their feelings. Blogging has changed all that. But many of us are veering off from innocence to more predatory mindset where blogging only means making money. Blogging has almost become synonymous with money. How to make money by blogging? Seven ways to create a wealthy blog. Five ways to make money through blogging. Money seems to be the theme of blogging – be all and raison d’être of blogging. But to some out there, blogging has a different purpose.

Informal marketing channel

Big corporate or for that matter small businesses maintain a blog or multiple blogs . These blogs are purely for marketing. Blogs by themselves cannot be an effective marketing channel but combined with other activities, blogging can become a potent tool for advertising and marketing. More and more customers are leaning towards blogs to provide information about products and services . Traditional advertising is seen as pushy and artificial whereas blogging seems like a soft sell. Marketers realize the potential of blogs and are devising new and powerful ways to influence customers through their blogs.

Feedback loop

Customer feedback can save an advertisement campaign or boost its effectiveness. Timely customer feedback allows marketers and businesses to correct course mid-stream and aligning their marketing efforts more towards customer expectations. Fine tuning advertising and marketing can be done effectively through blogging. This doesn’t mean blogging is only an adjunct of advertising. It can actually stand alone and create a buzz. Viral marketing can be achieved through pure blogging. In all these cases, customer feedback forms a critical part of the whole.

Building reputation on the net

More and more people and businesses are using blogs to build reputation. Once again, the informal nature of blogging is being used to influence public opinion. The advantage of such organic reputation building is permanence. An effective advertisement campaign usually lasts for the duration of the drive. On the other hand blogging can create an everlasting impression on the minds of customers. Obviously, the message has to be subtle. An ‘on your face’ kind of blogging experience can actually do more harm to your reputation.

Projecting image as an expert

Many bloggers use this platform to project themselves as experts in their respective field. The primary aim of these blogs is not to make money but to project their image. Once they establish their expertise online, they use it for lectures, presentations, workshops and talk shows. In a way they are monetizing their blog.

A blog can be used to sell books, biographies and expertise. Blogs can be used to create a roaring buzz.

Conclusion

Blogs can be used more creatively than simply used as money making machines. In the end blogs are meant to inform, interact and network with others around the world. Go forth and blog. Enjoy.

No matter how much traffic you get directly of from Social media, the traffic that comes from Search engine is more then 50% of the total traffic for most of the blogs. So, that thing can’t be ignored.

I have got a couple of blogs, few of them got huge traffic and on few other blogs, the traffic declined almost 50%. After observing every single thing I could, from my blog, I figured out few things which could be the reason such havoc.

Others blogs have written about it in a very tough webmaster language, so, I’ll try to keep it smile here. Please note that the facts I have observed, may or may not have affected your blog’s performance, but this is what I have observed.

Inconsistency in Writing Posts

All of you know that you need to be consistent in blogging, and this is one big factor which got me affected with Panda update. Bogs which were updated on a regular basis, gained traffic and others lost.

Writing too many posts in a day

Its good to write a lot of content, but this is another mistake I did with one of my blog. I used to write 6 to 7 low quality posts in a day and publish them altogether, and there used to be no update for the rest of the week. This blog was affected the most. Because there was inconsistency as well as the posts were low quality.

Writing Too short Posts or Low Quality Posts.

On one of my blogs, I used to write shots posts by reading other news websites, I knew its not going to take me anywhere because I was indirectly copying posts from other big websites, by rewriting them on my blog.

No Social Media Presence

It’s very strange for me to say that the blogs which had no Social media presence, were affected by Panda update, I always used to think social media doesn’t affect search engine rankings but after observing the performance of my own blogs, I can say it’s important.

After all this, I am very happy that Google implemented Panda update on search results, as the blog on which I have worked so hard has finally started to rank better in search results. Prior to this change in search algorithms, low rakings in Google Search stopped me putting more hard work on this blog. But still there are so many things which I need to implement on this blog as well as the blogs which got affected negatively. Here are the best practices which I am going to follow in the year 2012.

Blog Consistently

I have been saying this from the start of this blog, now I am going to climb on a mountain and shout it from there. Please take time to write on your blog on a regular basis. Because of this new Google Panda thing, which affected the search results of man big blogs, blogging consistently is one of the most important thing to do. Please don’t make your blog look dead in the eyes of Google.

Write Properly Formatted Articles

You will have to take extra time to check your grammar and spelling before publishing a post. Presentation is another important thing I keep repeating in every other post on the blog.

Optimize Your Blog for Different Internet Devices

Optimizing your blog only for mobile viewing is not enough these days, there are many types of Internet devices available in the market, Different mobile phones and tablet PCs with different screen resolution, Optimizing your blog for different internet devices will give your readers an ease to read your content on their favorite devices.

Improve page load speed of your blog

Internet is getting faster and faster, therefore, you need to keep up with it, make your blog pages load faster. Your blog visitors would love to browse few more pages if they load fast.

Be Social

This year, try to be more social, try interacting with like minded people on Twitter and Facebook. Search similar blogs and find a way to connect with them. And please, don’t use email use social networks.

Guest Posts on other blogs

Write the best content possible and guest post it on other similar blogs. It has worked for almost everyone, I should work well this year as well.

Allow Guest posts on your blog

Guest post is a great way to get Free quality content to your blog. This way, you few extra hours to do other task such as, working on increasing the traffic, monetizing the blog etc.

Experiment and the share it with your Audience

Your readers would love to know how it was when you experimented it, they would love to see the results. They can learn from your mistakes.

Keep yourself updated with the current trends

I read an article somewhere on the internet where a Guy had several monitors in his office to monitor all the content on the internet, well, you don’t have to go that far, just try to keep yourself update in you’re a industry.

Observe What big companies are doing to promote their brands

Last year, the late Steve Jobs went on a 1500-word rant where he basically declared Adobe Flash to be nothing more than a battery draining parasite as far as the mobile web experience was concerned. The opinion Jobs had toward the multiple-platform developer tool was one shared with many minds within Silicon Valley. Whether on prepaid phones or the latest Android releases, Flash is almost always a nuisance. But Adobe responded to these accusations with assurances that they were well underway with optimizing Flash for the mobile web experience. Touchscreen integration was only going to be the beginning, according to Adobe. Before long developers who had been second-guessing Flash in favor of mastering HTML5 were going to realize they made a big mistake.

But this never happened. Instead, Adobe just laid off 750 employees and announced today that they were canceling further development of a mobile version of Flash. The official reasoning behind the lay-offs and cancellation? Corporate restructuring. But industry experts and analysts point instead to a mobile tech resistance against Flash that had been stewing for years and only recently found a spokesperson in the form of Steve Jobs. Once Apple decided to ban the platform from iOS, other mobile tech gurus realized it was okay to marginalize the once incredibly successful Flash. Adobe saw the writing on the wall, and figured they’d better just extinguish Flash instead of devote themselves to a bitter fight.

So what does all this mean for aspiring bloggers and other online entrepreneurs? It means we need to dump Flash as soon as possible. HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript are far superior alternatives, and Flash, for all if it’s razzle dazzle, is ultimately detrimental to the success of your site. Take a hint from Jobs: Flash is simply not ideal for an optimized mobile web browsing experience. This translates into lower amounts of mobile traffic for your site. More importantly, it causes serious problems down the road, as the amount of mobile-based traffic is expected to quadruple by the middle of the decade.

Since more potential visitors of your site are going to be doing so via mobile phone rather than desktop computer, it’s essential that you re-evaluate your relationship with Adobe Flash if you have one. It might make your website look pretty and functional from a traditional web browsing perspective, but from the angle of the future, it’s only going to bury you in the search results. If the fact that Adobe is kissing mobile Flash goodbye isn’t enough evidence to spur you in the direction of alternative means of development, hopefully the sake of your future web success will.

If you are serious about blogging, then you have to look at your blog as if it were a serious business. So many bloggers don’t invest the time and energy needed to create a successful blog, yet don’t understand why they aren’t making any money or gaining any readers.

Point blank – blogging professionally is not easy and requires hours of hard work. I couldn’t stress this enough.

However, if you are blogging daily and are seeing no results, there may be a few other reasons why your blog is failing. A few reasons many content filled blogs fail include:

Poor Management

You need to employ strategies used by actual companies such as business and Decision Analytics when managing your blog. If you want your blog to literally become your business, you need to think of it as physically being one. Give yourself a daily schedule, set daily goals that need to be accomplished, set long term goals, and perform regular outreach.

Never make a rash decision simply because you are in a panic or racing for content. Always be thorough in your research to make sure that you don’t make poor decisions with your blog that could cripple it and your online reputation.

No Focus

Have you ever read back over your blog posts and wondered what you were talking about on certain days? If so, then you’ve got a problem. You need to streamline your content and focus on a specific topic. Your goal is to look like an authority. When you ramble on from one topic to the next you just look like the village idiot, and no one will take you seriously. Therefore, your blog will fail.

Lack of Creativity

If you are in dire need of content for your blog but lack ideas, do not simply rip off other articles. Readers typically aren’t stupid and read a ton of content all throughout the web. If you are simply ripping off today’s latest news stories without incorporating your own personality or opinion, you won’t keep readers for very long.

Always try to look at a story from a different angle, and don’t be afraid to include your personality. Your readers will be more likely to stick around as they will want to hear what you see from your own perspective.

Blogging success rarely comes over night so don’t expect to have hundreds of thousands of regular readers after writing consistently for a month. Some of today’s more popular blogs had to work hard for a year or two before they rose in popularity, and grew large enough to support the people behind them.

Don’t give up. If you realize that something isn’t working for your blog, simply change it. With the web, nothing is ever a definite and a simple launching of a blog with proper management the second time around can turn your blog around.

In 2007, Apple Inc. Changed the Technology world with the introduction of their iPhone. It changes the future of Smart Phones totally, iPhones was sold like hot cake, fast forward to 2011 and Apple Inc. has become the most valuable company because it introduced Post PC devices, like iPhones and iPads.

Post PC devices are those which has the capability of doing all thing which you can do on a PC and they can fir in your Pockets as well.

The Market is full of smart phones and people are actually using it for reading content, emails and browsing websites. So, if you are a webmaster or blogger who has still not considered Optimizing your website for mobiles, then you are losing a lot of visitors.

I am attaching the screen shot from my Google Analytics which says that I am getting around 13% of my total traffic from Mobile Phones.

The reason why you should optimize your blog for mobile phones is because they have a smaller screen and many of them use a slow GPRS connection to browse internet. Even if someone uses 3G, the tariff is little high at this point.

There are many elements in a blog which are not required for Mobile phones visitors to see. you can use WP Touch plugin to make your blog mobile friendly. It makes the blog pages on Content rich, less distractive and easy to load.

Hope you will take your mobile phone visitors seriously.

First I thought to put this on my personal blog, but later I decided to publish it here as this may encourage all other new blogger who has been facing the same problems as I used to face few years ago.

And to be honest, I still face some problems because of the nature of my work.

At my place, when relatives come to stay, they usually go to sleep by 10 pm or 11 pm. My time to go to bed is almost pretty late at night, around 2 am to 3 am. I find it very peaceful to write long and thoughtful articles at that time.

When they wake up in morning an see me sleeping till 10 am 11am, they think I have been sleeping since the time they went to bed and I spend half time of the day sleeping and other half goes on internet, and I am noting but a lazy ass that has no aim in life or thing. They start giving me lecturer about getting a job and getting me in routine.

At first I used to care, but it really doesn’t matter to me now, because I know that I am doing well, I am better than many people. I write articles which makes people’s tech life easy. My articles are read my Hundred thousand people per month, that’s not great but that’s a good start. I have been making good money. And the best part is I love what I am doing.

I don’t have to wake up every morning and travel all the way to see a boss who decides what I am going to do for the rest of the day.

I am able to afford all the luxury stuff that many people dream to own, I go out only to have fun, to hang out with friends and to do thing I love or care to do.

Why should you care what others think about you?

I don’t want to make this sound little off but this is the way it is. People will talk about things anyway, they just need something to talk, and it’s up to you how you react to it.

I would suggest you to take your work seriously, be it anything. Be it blogging or whatever you are interested in.

You must have read the 1st Part of this post, (Published on ShoutMeLoud) here is the third. If you are wondering where the 2nd part is, I published it on my blog. Here are few more things I have noticed on few blogs. I will not be talking about any specific niche and they work on mostly all the blogs.

Writing n number of posts everyday

Okay, so if you are one of them who does a couple of posts a day and let the blog go without any post next day then this is for you. It’s good that you are writing too many posts in one day, I understand that not every day you feel like writing any posts. What you can do is, try posting only one article that day and save rest of them as a draft so that you can publish them on the days you don’t feel like writing any.

Broadcasting one liner posts to your blog

Sometimes I read blog posts which have nothing to say. They only information of one line and you get it just by reading the title of the post. It’s good to blog every piece of information, but it contains a couple of words then you can directly publish it to twitter of Facebook, this will make your readers easy to get the information right there rather than following a link to your blog and getting the same information. As a reader this really sucks.

Calling yourself a professional blogger

A professional blogger is someone who blogs and makes money out of it. But look around, almost every blogger is a professional blogger, he is making money from his blog directly or indirectly. Yes, I agree it’s a feel good factor, but don’t get carried away with it. It’s cool, but don’t forget your job to provide value to the readers. Be humble and work as a blogger. If you own a blog, you are a professional blogger, no need to add this extra line to your profile. No one gives a damn about it, well at least not me.

Competing with every other blogger

There has to be a competition, but it has to be healthy, this point of for a very less number of bloggers who write just to compete with other bloggers. Don’t be like that, blogging still a very small industry, so we all should work in a healthy environment and help each other. This is it from the 3rd part, If you have anything else to add please use the comment section.

This is certainly not the original IDEA, I haven noticed many others using it, but they are big guys, in fact pretty bigger than most popular individual bloggers.

If you try to go their way, you will need to have cut down all the distractions and do what matters. Yes, you can achieve that, in less time than them.

But lets not talk about it right now, I‘ll do a post or distribute Report in the form of an eBook later in near future.

Let me give you a shorter version of it right now.

so, Have you heard of membership sites? okay I am sure you have.

So how do they monetize it? they sell membership either on one time payment method or on a subscription basis.

What do they offer?

Exclusive service or content in every possible form ( Text, Audio, Video, Automated Software).

Offer Customer Support, They get back to you ASAP, help you with your query.

A forum to connect and discuss thing with like minded people.

and handful of other things.

You can do that right inside your blog.

I am telling you to add a premium column to your current blog, where you offer the variations of the content, get aweber and start making a list which pays you for the exclusive content, (either per email or on a monthly basis).

You can do an Audio version of your articles (read podcasts) and add it to your Premium page. you can pitch your users about it’s benefits or listening to it on their iPods, iPhones etc. You can make videos about how to do things and sell it via Premium area of your blog.

The whole idea of premium version of your blog should be, you will take extra care of those people. Well, every reader is special but it’s a fact that people who pay become more special.
