Blogging seems like an easy way to make money. You just have to write a few sentences and there – you become rich and famous. Are you kidding yourself? Blogging is no fairy tale. It is serious business – that’s if you want to make money from it. Now if you are ready to put in some hard work and think seriously about blogging, there are several ways in which you can do it.

Select your niche

This is important. There was a time when I started a blog on sex and movie stars because I thought there was money in it. Heck, I didn’t know anything about the subject. The end was obviously tragic. Then I moved on to other topics until I finally realized that there was no point running after mirages. I got down to some serious thinking. I am into holistic health in a big way and know quite a bit about it. Why not start a blog on weight loss programs and sell discount coupons as well? This was a killer idea. I am now into Medifast discounts and Nutrisystem coupons. I have multiple streams of income. People read my blog and I get steady advertising revenue. When visitors buy my health supplements, I earn a handsome profit.

What is the lesson? Your blog should be on something which you are passionate about. You must care for your words and readers will respect you. When others respond, your blog will succeed. Niche doesn’t mean a subject which is popular and making loads of money. A blog is about you, your likes, your hurts, your joy, your knowledge. Money should always be secondary.

You blog should speak your thoughts

Each one of us has a passion. It may be about climbing the Everest or creating a great piece of art. It may be a small thing like looking after your dog. It doesn’t matter. When you write about what you like, your blog would reflect your passion. Take my word for it. Selling discount coupons may not be romantic idea but my passion carries me through. My readers love my stuff and I get rewarded.

Give your blog time to mature

This is another thing I learnt the hard way. I would create a blog and if it did not rain money, I would move on to the next. This happened often enough to make me feel totally frustrated. I broke my favorite bone china coffee mug when I threw it at my television in anger – I broke that too. But still I did not get anywhere near smelling distance of money. I nearly gave up and then presto – things started changing for the better. I finally realized that we have to wait patiently if we want our blog tree to bear fruit. It takes time.

Conclusion

Blogging is not for babies. It is tough, it is hard and it requires serious thinking. Actually more than anything else, your blog requires a soul and a sweetheart.

Few days ago, I was asked this question by one of my readers on AsioGroups.Com, I answered him quickly, but I though I’ll be doing a post on it so that it can help many others who are wondering if it’s too late to start an online business.

Well, my dear friends it’s not too late at all.

There is always a place for the best, if you love your thing and you are good at it, bring it online and you will do it well.

Like I started thing online business thing in 2007, it’s almost 3 years, I can see the rules of the game have changed somewhat but the basic idea remains the same. Which is, if you maintain a regularity in what you are doing, you will do well. Yes, it will take some more time, little more hard work and a lot of smart work, but it will give you good results in the long run.

Some time back I wrote an article for bloggers about what to do within first three months of starting a blog. (Things to do in first three months of blogging). This could be applied in every form on business.

It will take sometime to succeed

Two of my friends started a placement service although there were plenty of other placement services available, they were strong enough to get into the competitive market and start working hard, they were good in getting startup companies convinced for hiring people through them, but they lacked in providing smart candidates to the companies.

It took them almost one year to build their profile so that they could get plenty of offers. Now their business is running smooth, but they had to work little harder initially.

Same thing happens in an Online Business, it takes little time to get visible and make a profile. I would be discussing more things in future posts. Thanks for reading.

This is a short post just to let you know that I am still alive and haven’t abandoned this blog. I had some other things in my life which were not gong smooth. Anyway, let’s talk now.

Well, if you ask me why your business is not growing? I would tell you simply because you are not investing in it. Investment is the core thing for your business to grow. Be it monetary or time investment. Every business needs investment.

For example: If you sell a product, you need to invest money in your project to promote it, provide an awesome customer support and a team which will be working on making the product even better.

Wise investment

By this I mean, investment which will bring you some return which has more value than the actual investment.

For example: If you are investing $100 on a particular thing in a particular month and you are getting a return on your investment which has a value which is less than $100, then you really need to think about it.

If you own a business, you really need to understand that Investment is not an expense, it works as an asset for you, as it is going to benefit your business. You are certainly going to buy assets by investing money in your business.

It took me twenty two minutes to think from where I should start this post. Right from the day I was born or the day I did my first business, because this post is all about the entrepreneur in me. Ok, let’s start with the day I got my bike. All my friends were still playing with their bicycles and I was the first one to get a motor bike. Yes, at the age of 16 I owned a bike, you get a driving license at 18, but I am born in India. As I was the only guy who knew how to ride a bike, I took advantage of it by teaching other guys how to ride it in return of money. Yes, it was cheap but you can imagine what else a 16 year old guy can do to add some more bucks to his pocket money. Let me tell you about the success of my 1st business, I was making enough money that if I had two girlfriends I would have treated them both very well, but the sad part is, I did not have any.

It is said that happiness is too short or happy days pass soon, I had to leave my motorbike, my friends, my home and go to Aligarh Muslim University to study further. It was 2002 and I really got bored in the 1st year. Later in 2003, I grew interest in mobile phones, all kind of them, all the students knew that I was the guy if it was about mobile phones, pretty soon, I saw myself surrounded by all kind of mobile phones and I realized that I was acting like a marketplace for buying and selling second hand mobiles phones. Initially I hesitated taking any money which was not mine, but later I thought I am the one who is helping them out with my contacts, so I better get something out of it. I can say that it was the best business model for me. I never had to step out of my room. People came to me handed me their mobile phones and go, I had to carry all the phones with me wherever I go. If anyone liked the phone, I made a sale that means I made a commission. I was earning damn good, if I had five girlfriends I would have taken a very good care of them all, but sadly I did not have any.

Later in 2004 I decided to take my mobile phone business little further, I joined eBay.Com and started selling mobiles phones online and the margin price was very good. The pace I was going with, I thought I’ll be a million by just selling second hand mobile phones on eBay.Com, well if someone buys your stuff for $500 when it’s actually $50 worth you can be a millionaire by selling 2000 pieces of your stuff, but Scammers ruined all my plans.

2005 was the year I got my laptop and internet connection, initially I did all the guys stuff, chatting, downloading etc. but later I started discovering more and more about internet. I read about Google Adsense and read many stories about it, I then created a freewebs webpage and a blog page, signed up for Google Adsense in 2006, put the codes in the web and blog pages. At the end of the year I made $7 and that wasn’t cool, I joined an anti Google Adsense forum where people shared their story and abused Google. I did the same and went to Joined a BPO where was paid $200 for a 5 day job with 25 Hours a week. But after 6 months I realized that BPO job is not going to make me a millionaire anytime soon, I quit the job. I took 2 months rest as the BPO job made me a nocturnal animal in 6 months. These two months gave me enough time to, again hangout on internet and learn few cool things about making money online. 17th July 2007 was the day I started my first blog on wordpress and within in six months I had more than 20 blogs in different niches. This time again, the earning potential was so great that I thought I’ll be a millionaire by 2010. Well, I am nowhere near to a millionaire at this point of time, but I have learned a thing or two about becoming one.

You can’t become one if you never dream to be one. I at least dream of it and now I am making a healthy income online, and I still dream to become a millionaire someday.
