Every webmaster knows how essential it is to create an SEO campaign for their website. How many of them are willing to put even a fraction of the effort into their SEO campaign for their Facebook fan page? Probably less than 10%.

Why Use SEO for Your Facebook Page?

It’s hard to understand why many webmasters won’t put in a little effort to create a more popular Facebook page. Think about how much more exposure a Facebook page can get. Facebook will rank much higher in the search engines than your web site ever will.

You created your fan page to draw more fans. Why not make sure possible fans will actually find it?

Tips for Using SEO to Draw Facebook Fans

Facebook will rank higher than your site and you can definitely use more competitive keywords. However, you need to think about your SEO strategy first. Here are some tips to draw traffic to your fan page:

Optimize for both Google and Facebook searches. Visitors will use both search engines to find your group. Make sure you are somewhat familiar with how they both work. Most likely, you will be drawing fans from Facebook’s own search engine. Nevertheless, you need Google too.

Get a vanity url. Making sure that your keywords turn up in the url is just as important with Facebook as a website. This can be a major SERP boost.

Make your fan page public. Change the settings on your page so everyone on Facebook can find it. There is no point being selective about who can find your page.

Think SEO in all content on your fan page. Search engines crawl the entire page for information. Hopefully, you know that already when you build your own website. Think about SEO in your wall posts, descriptions, status updates and everything else you possibly can.

Optimize titles for content you want to find. You need to make sure your keywords are in the titles of your wall posts. Your wall posts will draw traffic for additional keywords and visitors can click directly on your content.

Use a static FBML app. These applications will allow you to create new sections in your page for keyword laden content.

Add videos. Embedding YouTube videos into your site can help your rankings considerably. Find popular videos with your keywords and have them streamed in.

Be persistent. It always takes time to optimize any webpage. Your fan page is no different. Update it regularly.

Take the time to work on your SEO campaign for your Facebook page. It is essential that you draw Facebook fans. Why not use SEO to draw the most relevant users?

There is surely more than one reason for the traffic to decline, but one of the biggest is the Panda Update in Google search.

No matter how much traffic you get directly of from Social media, the traffic that comes from Search engine is more then 50% of the total traffic for most of the blogs. So, that thing can’t be ignored.

I have got a couple of blogs, few of them got huge traffic and on few other blogs, the traffic declined almost 50%. After observing every single thing I could, from my blog, I figured out few things which could be the reason such havoc.

Others blogs have written about it in a very tough webmaster language, so, I’ll try to keep it smile here. Please note that the facts I have observed, may or may not have affected your blog’s performance, but this is what I have observed.

Inconsistency in Writing Posts

All of you know that you need to be consistent in blogging, and this is one big factor which got me affected with Panda update. Bogs which were updated on a regular basis, gained traffic and others lost.

Writing too many posts in a day

Its good to write a lot of content, but this is another mistake I did with one of my blog. I used to write 6 to 7 low quality posts in a day and publish them altogether, and there used to be no update for the rest of the week. This blog was affected the most. Because there was inconsistency as well as the posts were low quality.

Writing Too short Posts or Low Quality Posts.

On one of my blogs, I used to write shots posts by reading other news websites, I knew its not going to take me anywhere because I was indirectly copying posts from other big websites, by rewriting them on my blog.

No Social Media Presence

It’s very strange for me to say that the blogs which had no Social media presence, were affected by Panda update, I always used to think social media doesn’t affect search engine rankings but after observing the performance of my own blogs, I can say it’s important.

After all this, I am very happy that Google implemented Panda update on search results, as the blog on which I have worked so hard has finally started to rank better in search results. Prior to this change in search algorithms, low rakings in Google Search stopped me putting more hard work on this blog. But still there are so many things which I need to implement on this blog as well as the blogs which got affected negatively. Here are the best practices which I am going to follow in the year 2012.

They just feel that whenever they publish their post, people would go crazy and leave everything to read your fresh content.
Naah!,

It will never happened, you are not brad pit, you will have to earn that thing first. And for that, you will have to make them see your best work. So, pull up your socks and make a list of the most popular posts on your blog or posts you feel have done pretty well. Make a new posts writing about your best posts, then try putting the link to that post everywhere.

Few ways to do so:

Comment on related blog

Post in forums, in related categories obviously

Tweet it and ask for ReTweets from friends and family

Broadcast to your email list

Use your own brain too

Read How to get 1000 Visitors to your New Post and drive as much traffic ( visitors) to that blog. Write for people and don’t think too much about SEO on all the posts.

All the bloggers out there, if you are blogging for a while, you might be aware of on of the ways to Monetize a blog. The most common and popular way to Monetizing a blog is selling Ad Space on a Blog.

Now there are few things which you need to keep in mind so that you get the maximum out of it.

Great Design of the Website

The design of the websites is very important factor for selling advertisement. Now keep in mind that Design does not mean only the color combination of the blog or how beautiful the blog looks. The Navigation of the blog is also included in it. It should be easy for everyone that they get what they are looking for.

Show the stats of your blog (Make a Dedicated page)

If you want to advertise on your blog, it’s a smart move to show stats, I mean the visibility of your blog, it includes Monthly Visits, Page views, Average Number of Comments on each post, RSS Feed Subscribers, Fans on Facebook, Followers of Twitter. Show whatever seems to be impressive, remember, it depends on what niche your blog is in. Make a dedicated advertise page and try having a sales pitch.

Put Just One ‘Advertise Here’ Banner

I have noticed many bloggers that if they are selling Ad Space on Their blogs, they put multiple Advertise Here banners on their blogs. This is wrong, You should try to crate scarcity to sell it. GO registere with some money making sites and become their affiliates, then put their banners and keep only one Advertise Here banner. This creates a kind of Urgency and makes the Advertiser to quickly take action.

Contact Potential Advertisers Directly

Don’t just write a sales page, sit and wait for advertisers to contact you, hunt for them instead, make a list of potential advertisers who might be interested in advertising on your blog and then contact them accordingly.

Announce that you sell Ad space

If you have got an email list, shoot an email to them, tweet or post on Facebook that you are selling ad space. I am sure many of the readers, fans or followers would take some interest. Again, this depends on the niche you are in.

Write a dedicated post for your Advertisers.

I have seen many bloggers practicing this and becoming successful in selling ad space on their blogs. Write a dedicated post thanking or mentioning your advertisers at the end of every months. This is good for advertisers as they get for no extra charge. Not all the bloggers can do it as it again is a niche specific thing.

Sell A Complete Advertising Package

Sometimes the Advertisers are not only looking for buying Ad Space but they need to promote their product or service. It’s a great idea to come up with a complete package for them. like Writing post about their product or service, and promoting it on your blog by showing different banners.

After reading this post, please don’t stick to just these strategies but try experimenting the best way that can work for your blog. Be sure to produce killing content as its the main motive of the blog and not the money. Money just gives you freedom to work harder and help you create more killing content. Just keep yourself motivated.

Most bloggers advice this thing of writing at least one post everyday in order to get Traffic and keep your blog alive. But few from many would agree with me on writing quality content even if it is once in a week. But it should benefit your readers in someway.

There are many other ways to get traffic on your blog without writing a lot of content. I have written few articles about getting traffic to a blog and out of all the methods, it is guest posting which benefits a blog the most and in many ways.

One, you get a Link back from the other blog which is good in terms of SEO for you Blog, Two, is the Recognition which is good for you Brand and Third is, a lot of valuable traffic, which can be converted into a regular reader. Take a look at the screenshot from Asiogroups traffic stats in Google Analytics. This was the day I did a guest post on a popular blog.

Benefits of getting visitors from Guest Posts

A Visitor who lands on your blog after reading your guest post on the other blog can easily convert into a loyal reader as he already is loyal to another blog if your make a list of top blogs in your industry and write one guest post in a week then you are going to get a lot of visitors who can be regular readers for your blog.

Also, getting a link back from a top blog is so good for your blog’s health. People are ready to pay hundreds of dollars to get links backs from tops blogs and you get a permanent link for free with your name mentioned above or below the guest post which makes you famous and if readers find your Name on multiple blogs they are surely going to follow your blog too.

Now that you know the importance of guest posting, feel free to send me your guest posts to me via Contact form or Join us to write on Asiogroups.com on a regular basis.

First things first, I have not been active for some reason, only one thing could be used as an excuse, that is, lot of things happening in my life right now, anyway, will be back to work soon after 20 days of not doing anything, believe me, even my mail box has got loads of unread emails. So let’s talk.

I was talking to a friend of mine who is running a telecom blog, his blog is getting around 600000 page views per month and he is making only $1000/month. I have got another friend whose blog is getting around 20000 page views per month and he is making around $1500/month, yes, this is only because their niche are different, they monetize their blog with different models.

Now, people who are new to internet business feel that traffic is the only important thing to make money online. Yes it’s important but not that much.

My second friend is getting only 20000 page views , which is, only one day’s traffic of my other friend’s blog, but still making more because he has got his own product to sell. This is because he has a very high valued readers for his blog.

It Depends On How Valuable Your Readers Are

People who land on your blog via search engines are the ones who are in search of something, if there is a very less possibility that they will come to your blog again. People who land from Social Networking sites are little more aware of internet and value more than Search Engine Traffic. Then there is this other group of Readers who have subscribed to your blog and read each and every post your publish on your blog. They know you very well and are curious to read or listen whatever you have to say. They are the most valuable Readers for a blog. This is the type of Readers who will buy Products you recommend.

Selling A Digital Product

The best thing about a Digital product is, once it is created, it can be sold again and again without any effort as multiple copies are not a difficult task to make, it’s just copy and paste thing. Every marketer has mentioned that selling your own product is the best profit model. Once you work hard and create a product, you can work on promoting it. The more valuable readers you have the more sales you are going to have and this works for almost all the niches.

Portfolio Websites

Many Designers and Freelance Writers have got their portfolio websites which gets very less amount of traffic but have a very high converting ratio. These portfolio websites brings them a lot of work which help them to make more money.

I have written this post to motivate bloggers who struggle to get a lot of traffic or think that only high traffic websites can make money, however, getting traffic from search engine is still a good thing and you can read How to get Search Engine Traffic for your blog.

After writing the post about how to make your blog Google friendly, I thought I’d write a post which can help your get traffic from all the search engines.

Write searchable titles of the posts

This is a common sense. The results which show up in search engine have the keywords in the title of the posts which are searched. So you should try writing the titles exactly how they are searched.

For example: if someone is searching for a procedure to make Tea, the he will be typing in How to make tea in the search engine, you should use it in your post title. It however does not guarantee your posts to show up on the top as there are so many other factors for it.

Bookmarking your posts heavily

There is this trick to indirectly rank high in search engines with the help of other popular bookmarking sites. Try to bookmark your posts on all the popular bookmarking sites and make is easy for readers to do so. Use plugging like Sexy Bookmarks or Socialize to show icons below the posts so that readers can share and bookmark it. By doing this, your original link may not rank on top but the link of the bookmarked site can show up on the top which will indirectly brings the Search Engine traffic.

Proper link building inside your blog

I have succeeded in doing this. I have ranked well for few particular long tail keywords just by interlinking my posts in the blog. Whenever you write another post which is related to a post you have written in the past, try to link it in the new post. Do not hyperlink Click Here or Read It but try to use the keywords which you have used in the title of that post.

Back links from other blogs

This is quite tough and beyond your control but you can try to get back links by directly asking your fellow bloggers to link back if they ever write a post on related topic or try to write a post which is valuable enough to get back links, there is another thing that when your blog becomes famous, you really don’t have to put any effort to get back links from other blogs.

Use YouTube to get search engine traffic

You must have observed that even YouTube videos show up in search results, this is another fair opportunity to get traffic from search engines, creating videos on YouTube and title them well. When they get searched you surely will get some good traffic.

Use twitter to get search engine traffic

If you are aware of twitter, they you must know that twitter links now show up in search results. So talking about your blog posts on twitter can help you get traffic if someone lands on your twitter profile from search engine.

This is it for search engine traffic, there are many other ways to get traffic for your blog posts, read how to get 1000 visitors to your new post.

No matter how much you give emphasis to social media, there are still few niches which can be monetized by Search Engine traffic, this is the reason Google Adsense is the most popular program for webmasters.

Every Popular blog has almost 70% of the Search Engine traffic. Still many bloggers fail to get their websites on top rankings even after months of effort. I have written allot about getting traffic from Social Media, but today I added my own few blogs to Google.

Add Your Website/Blog to Google

Add Your Website/Blog to Google by following this link. Google, however does not guarantee in what time your link will be indexed. You can still go ahead and use Google Webmaster tools to make your site more visible to Google.

Google Webmaster Tool

Your Google Account Will work with Google Webmaster Tools, there you need to add your website and verify it.

To verify the site, either you need to add a meta tag to the site or upload a file to the root of your website.(All the help has been show on the site with an example)

If your blog has a little bit of content, you can generate a Site Map using this website upload to the root server of your site. (www.yoursite.com/sitemap.xml) and submit it to Google for better crawling. from Google Webmasters Account

Quick Tip

To upload files to your sever use File Zilla, a free and light weight FTP Client. It makes the work easier.

Use words in your post titles which are searched in Google.

I would still like to tell you that Search Engine traffic takes time, the more unique content your blog has, the more traffic you get from Search Engines. You can read how to get instant traffic to your blog untill you get a sustainable traffic from Search Engines.

This is simple, if you want to kill your blog just don’t update it. It is going to be dead in few months.

The Literal meaning of Blog is a webpage that shows content in chronological order, newest content above.

But if you don’t keep up with it and don’t publish anything on the blog for months, people come to your blog and see that the last post was couple of month ago. They will have an impression that either the author is dead or he is married to a girl from another planet.

Do these things if you don’t have anything to write.

· Hire a writer for creating content, or

· Plan posts for the month or the week,

· Brainstorm and collect as many post ideas you can for the month.

· Write couple of articles in one sitting

· Post them with a schedule.

· If you get 30 articles in a month then post one daily or if you got 15 then post on alternate days

· Use Windows live Writer for publishing posts.

Let me tell you one thing that there is no need to update your blog regularly in order to keep it alive, it can still be live if you are active in Social media and talk about your blog there. There are many blogs which get updates once a week and get hell lot of traffic and make a decent about of money.

Your posts should have a quality and a take away lesson so that readers benefit from it and get curious to read more from you.
